An adaptation of "Hong Lou Meng" told from the perspective of Lin Dai Yu starting from her days in Yangzhou when she first entered the Jia household. She faces numerous trials and tribulations, becomes entangled in a love triangle with her cousins Bao Yu and Bao Chai, and witnesses the downward spiral of a once prominent family.
